7 billion Others

After ten years of circling the planet to capture aerial shots that produced the internationally acclaimed Earth from Above, in 2003, Yann Arthus-Bertrand initiated the 6 billion Others project. On October 31st, 2011, the official date on which the human population of the Earth reached 7 billion, the project evolved, its name becoming 7 billion Others.

Over a period of 7 years, 6,000 interviews have been filmed in 84 countries by 20 reporters who went out to meet the “Others.” From a Brazilian fisherman to a Chinese shopkeeper, from a German artist to an Afghan farmer, each individual answered the same questions about their fears, dreams, hardships and hopes:
What have you learnt from your parents? What do you want to pass on to your children?
What difficult circumstances have you been through? What do you think is the meaning of life?…
Discover how experiences shape each person’s identity. Hear what separates us and what we can share, and simply learn from the experience of others. Such is the objective of 7 billion Others.
Since 2009, the exhibition continues to travel the world.
To celebrate the international museum day, 7billion Others films are available for free.
